A Letter From Krista

Hi!
I wanted to (informally) introduce myself. I’m Krista and if I had to choose three words to describe myself they would be artist, storyteller and traveler. Those words may not describe you but I imagine we have more in common than you think.
Have you ever recognized a familiar feeling or been moved while listening to music, reading a book, looking at a painting, or watching a movie? Art (in any form) helps us recognize our shared experiences. It’s an understanding that someone else has suffered, or celebrated, lost or won, felt insecure, survived grief, or lost motivation.
We all move through the world with a unique experience but there are common threads to our stories. The stories we tell and the stories we are afraid to share. Words we use to describe ourselves and themes that seem to show up for us again and again. Our stories may be vastly different, but what we have in common is that none of our stories are finished yet. We all have the power to keep writing, change the plot, delete characters, add new ones, remember the wisdom of characters we’ve lost and decide where we go next. Imagine a new journey.
Be a traveler ; explore not only new places but new ideas as well. The cultures, countries and continents that I have seen on my travels have certainly shown me how we’re different but mostly they’ve shown me all the things we share. A desire to be seen, heard, understood, appreciated, needed and loved even though we ask for these things in a million different ways in languages both spoken and unspoken. Traveling the world can show us this but traveling outside our door can show us just the same.
Zoom out and open your eyes to the people around you and then Lean in with curiosity instead of armor and you will begin to witness all the ways that we are beautifully (and not so beautifully) the same. We laugh, cry, overthink, procrastinate, motivate, work hard, hardly work, doubt ourselves, doubt others, trust, mistrust, try, give up, try again; we cope (beautifully and not so beautifully).
This is all a journey and you don’t have to do it alone. You are the expert of your own story and your own unique path along the way but I’d love to shine a light on the map and help you see it more clearly if you’d like the company.
Zoom out, Lean in.
